Baby Joshua

Nathen's sister, Kathryn and her husband, Brett, had their first little baby on November 1st. This came as quite a surprise to everyone because Kathryn wasn't due until December 4th. Thankfully, he was okay and weighed in at over 5 lbs. We went to visit him for the first time Sunday night and Annie was excited to be able to hold him. (So was I.) His name is Joshua. He is a tiny little guy and very cute. We are excited to have our first nephew. Annie is excited to have more cousins and the first cousin on the Brown side. In just 3 weeks we went from having one niece to having 2 niece's and 1 nephew. It's been fun to have all the baby excitement lately.

Baby Olivia

Sara and Kason had their second little girl, Olivia, on October 11th. Annie and I were lucky enough to be able to fly up to Seattle and meet the little cutie. I was a little bit nervous about how Annie would treat the little one since it had been a while since she'd been around a tiny baby. She was so good with Olivia! I was so impressed with how well she held and took care of the baby. She was careful and gentle. My little girl is getting so big! We had a lot of fun with the McArthur's while in Seattle. We went to Point Defiance and built sand castles, Pike's Place Fish Market downtown, the Space Noodle (of course), and we visited the grounds of the Seattle Temple which were absolutely gorgeous. The Seattle temple grounds have these little forests with pathways through them which of course the girls loved walking through. Oh, and something hilarious that I just have to share: we told the girls that we were going to go visit the Fish Market and they were SO EXCITED! I was a little perplexed by their excitement. I thought they would kind of complain about this since it is a lot like a big boring mall for little kids. So we get to the fish market and I point out the fish for sale to Annie. She was quite disappointed. A few minutes later as we were walking around the market Annie asked me, "Mom, can we go see some fish that swim?" Ha ha ha... I'm still laughing about that. Annie and Zoe thought we were going to the aquarium to see live swimming fish, not the market where there's just a bunch of dead smelly fish for sale.

A very rainy Halloween

This was the first year that Annie really understood what Halloween was all about; the Trick or Treating! She was so excited to get dressed up in her princess dress and go out and get lots of candy. The weather forecast was pretty grim, calling for rain right during trick or treating hours so I decided we would head out early and beat the rain. There was just a very light sprinkle for the first 5 or 6 houses and very soon that light sprinkle turned into a downpour. Luckily I had thought to take our umbrellas and a cell phone. I called Nathen and he came and rescued us. We hit a couple more houses then headed home. I am so glad that Annie was satisfied with her candy haul and was ready to go home! All in all it turned out to be a fun and memorable Halloween.
