Our 6th Anniversary

So Nathen had plans to surprise me for our anniversary by taking me on a weekend excursion. He didn't quite keep the surprise and told be about his plans a couple of weeks ago. This is a very good thing, because he was planning on taking me to Heber or Park City. I suggested St. George, which is one of my very favorite places, and so that is where we ended up going. I don't have anything against Heber or Park City, but I wanted to go somewhere warmer than here with red rocks and palm trees. We left on friday afternoon and got to St. George at about 6:00. It was nice and warm and almost 60. The next day was supposed to be rainy in St. George, but still close to 60 degrees. We decided to head out to Zion National Park since it had been a while since either one of us had been. The first thing we did was the Zion Canyon overlook trail. Not long after we got back down it started getting really blustery and rainy and cold. We weren't going to let this spoil our fun so off we went to Weeping Rock and hiked up that trail. It wasn't very long, but what started out as a rainy hike ended up as a snowy hike. We still weren't going to let the snow get the best of us and we decided to hike up the Emerald Pools trail. We didn't stop at the lower pools, or even the middle pools. We hiked all the way up to the upper pools. By the time we got up to the top it was a blizzard. Instead of the squish squish of sand beneath our feet we heard the crunch crunch of snow. We were cold and wet, but we felt pretty lucky to be able to see Zion topped with snow. It was beautiful and peaceful and so much fun. I felt so lucky to have such a wonderful husband who was willing to be adventurous and do something that maybe we normally wouldn't have done. All in all it was a wonderful anniversary and I am so grateful to have such a wonderful husband. He is amazing.
